Corned Beef

Corned beef, also called silverside, is a classic come Eid and Christmas. Try this method for preparing this family favourite.

It turns out corned beef is difficult to cook - literally and figuratively. This is my method for cooking corned beef and it has worked out very well for us.

  • We enjoy corned beef cool, for which point five below is the most important.

Ingredients

  • corned beef

  • water
     

Method

  1. Simply add the corned beef to a pot, cover with water and let it simmer until done.

  2. Cooking time: 35 - 40 minutes per 500 g of corned beef.

  3. The water must always cover all of the meat.

  4. Keep it at a slow simmer, never a hard boil.

  5. When you are done cooking the meat, let the meat cool down in the liquid.

  6. When serving, always cut against the grain.
