Maroela Bread

A kind friend sent me some maroela fruit. I made juice with some of it, and then inspiration hit and we made bread!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (750) cake flour

  • 2 cups (500 ml) bread flour

  • 1 x 10 g packet yeast

  • ¼ cup honey

  • ¼ cup melted butter

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) salt

  • 1 cup (250 ml) fermented maroela juice

  • 1 egg

  • Enough warm water to mix to a soft dough

Directions

  1. Mix everything together and add enough of the lukewarm water to form a soft dough.

  2. Knead for a good 15-20 minutes, or 10 minutes in your stand mixer with the kneading hook attachment.

  3. Transfer to an oiled bowl and let it rise for an hour, until the dough has doubles in volume.

  4. Knead and shape the dough into your preferred, greased loaf pans.

  5. Let it rise out for 30 minutes.

  6. Preheat your oven to 180 °C.

  7. Glaze with egg, and if desired, apply a sprinkling of sesame seeds.

  8. Bake at 180 °C for 25 minutes.

  9. Enjoy!
