Here’s how to make this popular dish at home.
Vanessa Merlynn Fortuin Willemse
beef/chicken
Worcestershire sauce*
vinegar*
soy sauce*
peanut oil
2-3 onions, sliced
¼ head of cabbage, sliced into strips
black pepper
thick soy sauce
1 heaped tsp sugar
cooked handmade noodles
Please note: do not add salt. The saltiness comes from Worcestershire and soy sauce.
*Equal quantities, depending on how much meat you use.
Cut the beef/chicken into thin slices and smash it flat with a mallet.
Marinate the strips in the Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and soy sauce for 30 minutes.
Pour peanut oil in well-heated wok. Fry the onion.
Add the beef/chicken, 4 tablespoons of the marinade, and the cabbage to the wok.
Add the black pepper, thick soy sauce and the sugar.
Sauté everything in the wok on high heat for a few minutes.
Add the cooked noodles and mix with other ingredients.
Enjoy!
